Big Bang’s ‘Big Bang Gate’ is drawing crowds in Gangnam station.
The Big Bang gate is a promotion area for Big Bang’s special edition album Still Alive, which was released on June 6. The gate plays videos and music from the album for more effective promotion of the album.
A rep from You and I Media, which was in charge of related affairs, said, “The Big Bang gate, which was set up on June 2, has been drawing fans from inside and outside Korea, and overseas media outlets have also been showing great interest.”
Ever since YG Entertainment announced the opening of the Big Bang gate through its official webpage, Big Bang’s fan communities and blogs have seen a flood of posts about fan visits to the gate. More fans are expected to visit the Big Bang gate, located in Gangnam’s Shinbundang line, in the future.
The Big Bang gate plays high definition videos on the clear LCDs set up in the columns holding up a giant arched structure, and displays the CD of Big Bang’s new album as well as the clothes the members wore while filming their music video inside. The directional speakers installed in the gate play songs from the special album also.
An official said, “The Big Bang gate is a new type of promotion that uses state of the art clear LCDs to entertain the eyes and ears of the group’s fans, and this is the first time a group has used such methods in promotion. The clear LCD is a new type of medium that uses state of the art technology, and we used it for the promotional area because it fits the image of Big Bang well.”
You and I Media succeeded in using clear LCDs, developed by Samsung Displays, in advertising media with the cooperation of Cheil Worldwide and KT, and installed subway ads in the National University of Education station, Sinsa station and Apgujeong station using the technology in March, the first in the world. The firm plans to continue to use the clear LCD for a variety of content.
